This beautiful stitch is made up of vertical openwork bands of shells with picots that resemble small beads. Alternating airy and dense bands give the fabric a vertical look and a playful, frilly texture.

You can easily adapt the stitch by making the dense dc stripes wider or narrower, or by working the piece in dc and adding openwork bands only where it calls for them. This makes it suitable for many projects.
