Feel free to use any type of yarn (or even thread) for your project. Most yarns have the recommended crochet hook size on the label.
Techniques used in this stitch
UK / US crochet term:
Chain stitch – ch
Double crochet / Single crochet – dc / sc
Chain dc / Chain sc - ch.dc / ch.sc
Foundation Chain: Multiples of 2
Row 1: Skip 3ch, 1dc/sc in next, work 1 ch.dc/ch.sc in the same fountain ch:


insert the hook in ch, yarn over the hook and pull the hook through the ch.

Yarn over the hook and draw yarn through the first loop on your hook.

Yarn over the hook and draw yarn through all loops on your hook.

* Skip 1ch, work 1dc/sc + 1ch.dc/ch.sc in next ch; rep from*, skip 1ch, work 1ch.dc/ch.sc in last ch,turn

Row 2: 2ch, *skip ch.dc/ch.sc and work 1dc/sc + 1ch.dc/ch.sc in back loop of dc/sc below; rep from*, work 1ch.dc/ch.sc in 3rd ch,turn.


Row 3: repeat Row 2, but at the end of the row work 1ch.dc/ch.sc in 2nd ch.

Repeat row 3 until you have reached your desired length.
