Materials
Fingering weight yarn, and crochet hook size 2.5 - 2.75 mm / C.
You may use any yarn of your choice, and a suitable hook.
Techniques used in this stitch
UK / US crochet term:
Chain Stitch – ch
Slip stitch - slt
Double crochet / single crochet – dc/sc
Treble / double crochet – tr/dc
Half tr / half dc – htr/hdc
2 tr / dc puff stitch – pff: yarn over, insert hook into st, yarn over, draw yarn through stitch. Repeat preceding step 1 time. Yarn over and draw through first 4 loops on hook, yarn over and draw through remaining 2 loops on hook.

make base for leaf, * work 1slt in each of next three pff,
1ch, skip 1ch below, make 1slt in each of next 3pff, make base for leaf, skip first two pff of next leaf; rep from *, turn.
Row 4: make 7ch, skip 3ch, work 2pff in next ch, make 1pff in each of next 3ch,
* work 1dc/sc in space of 1ch of leaf below, make leaf over next base ( work 1pff in each of next first 3ch of leaf base, make 2pff + 1ch + 2pff in ring of 3ch on top of leaf base, then work on opposite side making 1pff in each of next 3ch);
rep from *, work 1dc/sc in space of 1ch of leaf below, work 1pff in each of next first 3ch of last leaf base, make 2pff + 1tr/dc in ring of 3ch, turn.
Row 5: make 2ch and skip first st, * work 1slt in each of next 3 pff, make base for leaf, skip first two pff of next leaf, work 1slt in each of next three pff, 1ch, skip 1ch below; rep from *, work 1slt in third ch instead of making 1ch, turn.
Row 6: make 1ch and 1dc/sc in first slt, * make leaf over next base, work 1dc/sc in space of 1ch of next leaf below; rep from *, work 1dc/sc in first ch instead of making 1dc/sc in space of 1ch, turn.
Repeat rows 3 - 6 until you have reached your desired length.
Finishing
Odd row: work 1ch instead of making leaf base.
Even row: work 1ch + 1tr/dc + 1htr/hdc + 1ch + 1htr/hdc + 1tr/dc + 1ch instead of making leaf.
If you need to crochet “semi leaves” from both edges of the fabric work next: begin row with 3ch + 1htr/hdc + 1tr/dc in first slt and finish with 1tr/dc + 2htr/hdc in third slt.
