Popcorn ruffle stitch

Horizontal stripes of openwork alternate with rows of popcorn stitches, giving the fabric the look of ruffles, especially when worked top-down. The stitch looks good in one color or several. Experiment with color placement from row to row and combine fuzzy and smooth yarns for interesting textures.
