Crochet bobble stitch

Guide

Feel free to use any type of yarn (or even thread) for your project. Most yarns have the recommended crochet hook size on the label.


Techniques used in this stitch

UK / US crochet term:

Chain stitch – ch

Double crochet / single crochet – dc / sc

Treble / Double crochet – tr / dc

Double Treble / Triple Crochet – dtr/tr

7 double treble / triple bobble - bbl

Stitch – st

Foundation Chain: Multiples of 9 + 2

Row 1: Skip 1ch, 1dc/sc in next, 1ch, skip 1ch, * 1dc/sc in next, 5ch, skip 4ch, 1dc/sc in next, 3ch, skip 3ch; rep from *, 1dc/sc in next, 5ch, skip 4ch, 1dc/sc in next, 1ch, 1dc/sc in last ch, turn.

Row 2 Make 1ch and 1dc/sc in first dc/sc below, * work 11 tr/dc in space of 5ch, 1dc/sc in space of 3ch; rep from *, make 11 tr/dc in space of 5ch and 1dc/sc in last dc/sc below, turn.

Row 3: Make 6ch, skip 3tr/dc of first shell and make 1dc/sc in next st, 3ch, skip 3tr/dc, 1dc/sc in next st, * 5ch, skip 3tr/dc of next shell and make 1dc/sc in next st, 3ch, skip 3tr/dc, 1dc/sc in next st; rep from *, make 2ch and 1dtr/tr in last dc/sc, turn.

Row 4: Work Row 4 behind Row 3.

Make 1ch and 1dc/sc in dtr/tr below, 4ch, * make 1bbl (back-popping) in 6th tr/dc of next shell below:

Make 7 incomplete dtr/tr in same st, yarn over and draw yarn through all loops on hook.

Work 9ch; rep from *, make 1bbl in 6th tr/dc of next shell, 4ch, skip 2ch and work 1dc/sc in third ch. Do not turn.

Row 5: Work Row 5 over Rows 3 and 4.

Fasten to first dc/sc of Row 4 and make 3ch. Work 5tr/dc in space of 2ch,

* 1dc/sc in space of 3ch, 11 tr/dc in space of 5ch; rep from *, 1dc/sc in space of 3ch, 5tr/dc in space of 6ch, 1tr/dc in last dc/sc of Row 4, turn.

Row 6: Make 1ch and 1dc/sc in first st, 1ch, skip 1st, 1dc/sc in next, * 5ch, skip 3tr/dc of next shell and make 1dc/sc in next st, 3ch, skip 3tr/dc, 1dc/sc in next st; rep from *, 5ch, skip 3tr/dc of next shell and make 1dc/sc, 1ch, 1dc/sc in third ch, do not turn.

Row 7: Work Row 7 in front of Row 6.

Fasten to first dc/sc of Row 6. Make 1ch and 1dc/sc in first dc/sc below, * 9ch, make 1bbl (front-popping) in 6th tr/dc of next shell below; rep from *,

work 9ch and 1dc/sc in last dc/sc of row 6, turn.

Row 8: Work Row 8 over Rows 7 and 6.

Fasten to first dc/sc of Row 7. Make 1ch and 1dc/sc in first dc/sc below, * 11 tr/dc in space of 5ch, 1dc/sc in space of 3ch; rep from *, work 11 tr/dc in space of 5ch and 1dc/sc in last dc/sc of row 7, turn.

Repeat rows 3 - 8 until you have reached your desired length.
