Crochet shell stitch

Guide

Materials

Fingering weight yarn, and crochet hook size 2.5 - 2.75 mm / C.
You may use any yarn of your choice, and a suitable hook.

Slip stitch - slt

Half treble / hal double crochet – htr / hdc

Flower Petals (blue):

Make 10 ch, slt in tenth ch from hook, * work 3ch, 5dtr/trc + 3ch + slt in same ch, make 1slt in each of next 2ch; rep from * more 4 times, fasten off.

Flower middle part 1 (beige):

Make 11 ch, * 1dc/sc + 9ch in eleventh ch from hook; rep from * more 4 times, 1dc/sc in same ch, fasten off.

Flower middle part 2 (white + cider):

Make 5ch, slt in fifth ch from hook. 1 round: make 7dc/sc in ring of 5ch. 2 round: make 6dc/sc in ring of 5ch. 3 round: repeat round 2 but change the color of yarn.

Flower bud:

Make 3ch, work 1 incomplete tr/dc in third ch from hook, make 5 incomplete dtr/trc and 2 incomplete tr/dc in same ch, yarn over and draw through all loops on hook. Change the color of yarn and make slt in same third ch, work 8ch for stem of the bud, fasten off.

Leaf:

Make 7ch, skip 2ch, 1dc/sc in next, 1htr/hdc in next, 1tr/dc in next, 1htr/hdc in next, 1dc/sc in last ch, 1ch. Work on opposite side: make 1slt in each of next 5 foundation chs. Work on opposite side: make 1slt in second ch, dc/sc, htr/hdc, tr/dc, htr/hdc, dc/sc and 1ch below, work 8ch for stem and fasten off.
