Crochet flower-puff stitch

Guide

Materials

Fingering weight yarn, and crochet hook size 2.5 - 2.75 mm / C.
You may use any yarn of your choice, and a suitable hook.


Techniques used in this stitch

UK / US crochet term:

Chain stitch – ch

Double crochet / single crochet – dc / sc

Treble / Double crochet – tr / dc

Puff stitch – pff: yarn over, insert hook into st, yarn over, draw yarn through stitch. Repeat preceding step 2 times. Yarn over and draw through first 6 loops on hook, yarn over and draw through remaining 2 loops on hook.

Row 1: skip 1 ch, * 1dc/sc in each of the next 3ch, work pff in previews dc/sc:

Make a long loop same size as 4 - 5 chains, yarn over, insert through 2 loops of previews dc/sc,

yarn over, draw yarn through stitch. Repeat preceding step 2 times. Yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.

Row 2: work all puffs stitches same size as 4 - 5 chains. Make 3ch and skip first st, * 1tr/dc in each of next 2dc/sc below, 1ch, work {pff + 3ch} – 3 times in dc/sc below, pff in same dc/sc, 1ch, 1tr/dc in each of next 3dc/sc below; rep from *, turn.

Row 3: make 3ch and skip first st, * 1tr/dc in each of next 2tr/dc below, 1ch, work 3dc/sc in each space of 3ch, 1ch, 1tr/dc in each of next 3tr/dc below; rep from *, make last tr/dc in third ch and turn.

Row 4: make 1 ch, * 1dc/sc in each of the next 3tr/dc below, work pff in previews dc/sc, make 1ch, skip 4dc/sc below and work 1dc/sc in next st, work pff in previews dc/sc, 1ch, 1dc/sc in each of the next 2tr/dc below; rep from *, work 1dc/sc in third ch, turn.

Repeat rows 2 – 4 until you have reached your desired length.
