Materials
Pearl cotton, crochet thread size 12, and steel crochet hook size 1.25 - 1.50 mm / 10 - 8.
You may use any yarn of your choice, and a suitable hook.
Techniques used in this stitch
UK / US crochet term:
Chain stitch – ch
Slip stitch – sl.st
Double crochet / Single crochet – dc / sc
Half treble / Half double crochet - h.tr/h.dc
Treble / Double crochet – tr / dc
Cluster of 5 tr/dc – cl. : work in the same space 5 incomplete tr/dc, yarn over hook and pull it through all loops on hook.

Row 3: 1ch, work in each space of 3ch and in space of 6ch at the end of the row: 1 dc/sc, 1 h.tr/h.dc, 3 tr/dc, 1 h.tr/h.dc, 1 dc/sc; turn.
Row 4: 6ch, * 1FPdc/sc over tr/dc below, 5ch; rep from * 3 times, 1FPdc/sc over last tr/dc of 2nd row, turn.

Row 10: 6ch, * 1tr/dc in space of 3ch, 5ch; rep from * 9 times, 1 tr/dc in space of 3ch, 3ch, 1tr/dc in 4th ch below, turn.
Row 11: 2ch (to join motifs together work 1dc/sc in space of 2ch of another motif and 1ch), 4dc/sc in space of 3ch, 3ch (or for next join instead 3ch work 1ch, 1dc/sc in space of 3ch of another motif, 1ch),
* 6dc/sc in space of 5ch, 3ch; rep from * 9 times, work in next space 4 dc/sc, 2ch, 3dc/sc in the same space.
Work 38 dc/sc stitches on opposite side of the motif (see picture above), then work sl.st in 2nd ch of the row. Fasten off.
Upper edge.
Row 1: Start with back side of the motifs. Fasten thread to the last st of the row 11 and make 5ch, * skip 2st, 1tr/dc in next, 2ch; rep from *, turn.
Row 2: 4ch, * 1cl. in space of 2ch, 2 ch; rep from*, 1cl. in space of 5ch, 1ch, 1tr/dc in 3rd ch, turn.
Row 3: 5ch, * 1tr/dc in space of 2ch, 2ch; rep from *, 1tr/dc in 3rd ch, turn.
Row 4: 2ch, *3dc/sc in space of 2ch, 3ch; rep from*, 3dc/sc in space of 5ch, 1dc/sc in 3rd ch.
