3 Crochet butterfly patterns

Materials

Pearl crochet cotton size 8, and steel crochet hook size 1.50 - 1.75 mm / 8 - 6.
You may use any yarn of your choice, and a suitable hook.


Techniques used in this stitch

UK / US crochet term:

Chain stitch – ch

Slip stitch – sl.st

Double crochet / Single crochet – dc/sc

Triple double crochet / Double single crochet – tr.dc/d.sc: Insert your hook into stitch, yarn over and draw through (2 loops on the hook), yarn over, insert the hook into the same stitch, yarn over the hook and draw through (4 loops on hook),

yarn over and draw through 4 loops.

Half treble / half double crochet – h.tr / h.dc

Treble / Double crochet – tr/dc

Double Treble / Triple crochet – d.tr/tr

Triple Treble / Double Triple Crochet – tr.tr / d.tr

Picot of 5ch - picot

Stitch – st

Butterfly S

Upper wing

Round 1: Make 7ch, skip 2ch, 1dc/sc in next ch, 1h.tr/h.dc in each of the next 2ch, 1tr/dc in next ch, 7tr/dc in last ch. Work on opposite side: 1tr/dc in next ch, 1h.tr/h.dc in each of the next 2ch, 1dc/sc in next ch, sl.st in second ch.

Round 2: Make 2ch, 1dc/sc in second ch of previous round, 10ch, skip 7sts and work 1d.tr/tr + 5ch + 1d.tr/tr + 5ch + 1d.tr/tr in fifth tr/dc below, 10ch, 1dc/sc in second ch of previous round, sl.st in second ch.

Round 3: Make 2ch, 1dc/sc in second ch of previous round, 1dc/sc in dc/sc below, 9dc/sc in space of 10ch, 1h.tr/h.dc in the same space, 1h.tr/h.dc in d.tr/tr below, 1h.tr/h.dc in space of 5ch, 5tr/dc in the same space of 5ch, 3tr/dc in second d.tr/tr below, 5tr/dc in next space of 5ch, 1h.tr/h.dc in the same space of 5ch, 1h.tr/h.dc in third d.tr/tr below, 1h.tr/h.dc in space of 10ch, 9dc/sc in the same space of 10ch, 1dc/sc in dc/sc below, 1dc/sc in second ch of previous round, sl.st in second ch.

Round 4: Make 2ch and work 1tr.tr / d.tr in each of the next 21 st, then make picot and continue crochet 1tr.tr / d.tr in each st below, sl.st in second ch.

Make two upper wings.

Lower wing

Round 1: Make 10ch and sl.st in last ch. Make 1ch, and then work in the ring of 10ch: 2dc/sc, 4h.tr/h.dc, 9tr/dc, 4h.tr/h.dc, 2dc/sc; make sl.st in first ch.

Round 2: Make 1ch and work 1tr.tr / d.tr in each of the next 11 st, then make picot and continue crochet 1tr.tr / d.tr in each st below, sl.st in ch.

Make two lower wings.

Body

Round 1: Make 10ch, skip 2ch, 1dc/sc in each of the next 2ch, 1h.tr/h.dc in each of the next 2ch, 1tr/dc n each of the next 2ch,1h.tr/h.dc in next, 1dc/sc in last ch.

Round 2: Make 2ch and work on opposite side: 1 tr.tr / d.tr in each of the next 8 foundation ch, picot, 1 tr.tr / d.tr in each of the next 2ch, picot, 1 tr.tr / d.tr in each of the next 8sts, sl.st in ch. Fasten off.

Upper wing

Round 1: Make 10ch, skip 2ch, 1dc/sc in next ch, 1h.tr/h.dc in each of the next 3ch, 1tr/dc in each of the next 3ch, 7tr/dc in last ch. Work on opposite side: 1tr/dc in each of the next 3 ch, 1h.tr/h.dc in each of the next 3ch, 1dc/sc in next ch, sl.st in second ch.

Round 2: Make 2ch, 1dc/sc in second ch of previous round, 10ch, skip 10sts and work 1d.tr/tr + 5ch + 1d.tr/tr + 5ch + 1d.tr/tr + 5ch + 1d.tr/tr in seventh tr/dc below, 10ch, 1dc/sc in second ch of previous round, sl.st in second ch.

Round 2: Make 1ch and work 1tr.tr / d.tr in each of the next 15 st, then make picot and continue crochet 1tr.tr / d.tr in each st below, sl.st in ch.

Round 2: Make 1ch and work 1tr.tr / d.tr in each of the next 17 st, then make picot and continue crochet 1tr.tr / d.tr in each st below, sl.st in ch.

Make two lower wings.

Body

Round 1: Make 15ch, skip 2ch, 1dc/sc in each of the next 7ch, 1h.tr/h.dc in each of the next 2ch, 1tr/dc in each of the next 2ch, 1h.tr/h.dc in next ch, 5dc/sc in last ch.
