In the instructions below you will find a tip how to change hat size.
Materials: wool yarn (100g – 400m), 25g white, 25g red, 50g dark grey and 100g light grey colors.
Crochet hook size 2.5 mm – or size needed to get a Motif A (square) = approx 6.5 x 6.5 cm.

Motif A
Make 8 foundation ch. Join the chain with a slip stitch, forming a ring.
Round 1: 4ch, * 4 tr/dc in ring, 3 ch, 1 dc/sc in ring, 3ch; rep from * 2 times, 4 tr/dc in ring, 3 ch, sl.st in ring.
Round 2: fasten yarn to fourth ch, 4 ch, * 3 tr/dc decrease, 3ch, 1 dc/sc in first ch, 2 ch, 1 dc/sc in third ch (next 3 ch below), 3ch; rep from * 2 times, 3 tr/dc decrease, 3ch, 1 dc/sc in first ch, 2 ch, sl.st in first ch of round.
Round 3: fasten yarn to top of decrease st, * 4 ch, 1 tr/dc + 2 ch + 1 tr/dc in ring of 8 ch, 4 ch, sl.st in top of decrease st; rep from* 3 times.
Round 4: 1ch, * 2 dc/sc in space of 4 ch, 4 tr/dc + 3 ch + 4 tr/dc in space of 2 ch, 2dc/sc in next space of 4 ch; rep from * 3 times, sl.st in ch.
Round 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc/sc in each st below and 3 dc/sc in second of three ch, sl.st in ch.
Motif B
Make 8 foundation ch. Join the chain with a slip stitch, forming a ring.
Round 1: 4ch, * 4 tr/dc in ring, 3 ch, 1 dc/sc in ring, 3ch; rep from * 1time, 4 tr/dc in ring, 3 ch, sl.st in ring.
Round 2: fasten yarn to fourth ch, 4 ch, * 3 tr/dc decrease, 3ch, 1 dc/sc in first ch, 2 ch, 1 dc/sc in third ch (next 3 ch below), 3ch; rep from * 2 times, 3 tr/dc decrease, 3ch, 1 dc/sc in first ch, 2 ch, sl.st in first ch of round.
Round 3: fasten yarn to top of decrease st, 4 ch, 1 tr/dc + 2 ch + 1 tr/dc + 2 ch + 1tr/dc in ring of 8 ch, 4 ch, sl.st in top of decrease st, * 4 ch, 1 tr/dc + 2 ch + 1 tr/dc in ring of 8 ch, 4 ch, sl.st in top of decrease st; rep from* 1 time.
Round 4: 1ch, * 2 dc/sc in space of 4 ch, 4 tr/dc + 3 ch + 4 tr/dc in space of 2 ch, 2dc/sc in next space of 4 ch; rep from * 3 times, sl.st in ch.
Round 5: 1 ch, work 1 dc/sc in each st below , 2 dc/sc in first of two chains and 3 dc/sc in second of three ch, sl.st in ch.
Motif C
Make 8 foundation ch. Join the chain with a slip stitch, forming a ring.
Row 1: 4ch, * 4 tr/dc in ring, 3 ch, 1 dc/sc in ring, 3ch, 4 tr/dc in ring, 3 ch, 1 dc/sc in ring.
Row 2: fasten yarn to rind of 8 ch, 4 ch, 1 dc/sc in third ch, 3ch, 3 tr/dc decrease, 3ch, 1 dc/sc in first ch, 2 ch, 1 dc/sc in third ch (next 3 ch below), 3ch, 3 tr/dc decrease, 3ch, 1 dc/sc in first ch, 1tr/dc in ring of 8ch.
Row 3: fasten yarn to fourth ch, 3 ch, 1 tr/dc in ring of 8 ch, 4 ch, sl.st in top of decrease st, 1 tr/dc + 2 ch + 1 tr/dc + 2 ch + 1tr/dc in ring of 8 ch, 4 ch, sl.st in top of decrease st, 4 ch, 1 tr/dc in ring of 8 ch,1 dc/sc in tr/dc below, turn.
Row 4: 5ch, 4 tr/dc in space between dc/sc and tr/dc below, 2 dc/sc in space of 4 ch, 2 dc/sc in next space of 4 ch, 4 tr/dc + 3 ch + 4 tr/dc in space of 2 ch, 2dc/sc in space of 4 ch, 2 dc/sc in next space of 4 ch 4 tr/dc + 1 d.tr/tr in space between tr/dc and 3ch, turn.
Row 5: 2 ch, work 1 dc/sc in each st below , 3 dc/sc in second of three ch, 2dc/sc fifth ch at the end of row.
Motif D
Make 13 foundation ch.
Row 1: 1 dc/sc in third ch, 3 ch miss, 4 tr/dc in next ch, 3 ch, 4 tr/dc in next ch, 3 ch miss, 1 dc/sc in next, 1 dc/sc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: 2 ch, work 1 dc/sc in each st below , 3 dc/sc in second of three ch, 1 dc/sc in ch at the end of row.
Work two parts of hat (see diagram below).
Sew motifs together using dc/sc join, edge to edge to form a two circles.
Join two circles together.
Ribbing
Round 1: fasten light grey yarn at the middle one of Motifs A. Crochet 1 ch, 132 dc/sc over hat's edge. Work 17 dc/sc over each Motif A, 14 dc/sc over Motif C and 1 dc/sc decrease in places where motifs join ( work 1 incomplete dc/sc in first motif and 1 incomplete dc/sc in next motif, then crochet all loops on hook). Work sl.st at the end of the round.
Round 2: 2 ch, * 1 rtrf / rdsf, 1 rtrb / rdcb; per from*, sl.st in 2nd ch.
For relief front stitches insert hook from the front and from the right to left round the dc/sc and then completing the tr/dc as usual.
For relief back stitches insert hook from the back and from the right to left round the dc/sc, then completing the tr/dc as usual.
For head size 22 inches / 56 -57 sm / M - work Round 3, 4 and 5 like Round 2.
For head size 21 – 1/2 - 5/8 inches / 54 - 55 cm / S - work 8 decreasings in Round 3. For one decreasing crochet 1 incomplete rtrf / rdsf, 1 incomplete rtrb / rdcb, 1 incomplete rtrf / rdsf, then crochet all loops on hook.
For head size 21 inches / 53 cm / XS - work 16 decreasings in Round 3.
Round 6: 1 ch * 1 rdcf / rscf, 1 rdcb / rscb; per from*, sl.st in ch.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
