Crochet shell stitch pattern for a triangle shawl

This triangle crochet stitch pattern is a versatile design that can be worked using any thread or yarn. Most yarns have the recommended crochet hook size on the label. But you can play around with different options to get tighter or looser crochet fabric.

How to grow your triangle shawl pattern:

You can grow the shawl pattern for as long as you want. Simply repeat rows (given in diagram and step-by-step instructions) until you get the desired size of your shawl.

Chain stitch – ch

Chain stitch – ch

Double crochet / Single crochet – dc / sc

Treble / Double Crochet – tr / dc

Double treble / Triple – d.tr / tr

Row 1: 6 ch, 1 tr/dc in last ch, 3 ch, 1 tr/dc in the same ch, 1 ch, 1 d.tr/tr in the same ch, turn.

Row 2: 1ch, 1 dc/sc in d.tr/tr below, 7 tr/dc In space of 1 ch, 1 dc/sc in space of 3 ch, 7 tr/dc in next space of 6 ch, 1 dc/sc in second of 6 ch, turn.

Row 3:

Work next steps:

"Beginning of left edge " : 6 ch, 1 tr/dc in dc/sc below.

Make 5 ch.

"Middle point 1": 1 tr/dc in dc/sc below, 1 ch, 1 tr/dc in the same dc/sc, 3 ch, 1 tr/dc in the same, 1 ch, 1 tr/dc in the same.

Make 5 ch.

"Ending of right edge " : 1 tr/dc in dc/sc below, 1 ch, d.tr/tr in the same, turn.

Row 4:

Work next steps:

"Beginning of right edge" : 1ch, 1 dc/sc in d.tr/tr below, 7 tr/dc in space of 1 ch.

Make 1 dc/sc in middle (fourth) tr/dc of 7 tr/dc group below . The chain of 5 stitches will be inside the dc/sc.

"Middle point 2": 7 tr/dc In space of 1 ch, 1 dc/sc in space of 3 ch, 7 tr/dc in next space of 1 ch.

Make 1 dc/sc in middle tr/dc.

"Ending of left edge" : 7 tr/dc in space of 6 ch, 1 dc/sc in second of 6 ch, turn.

Row 5:

Work next steps:

"Beginning of left edge " (see Row 3).

"Middle stitches 1": *5 ch, 1 tr/dc + 1 ch + 1 tr/dc in dc/sc below; rep from *, 5 ch.

"Middle point 1" (see Row 3).

"Middle stitches 1" (see above).

"Ending of right edge " (see Row 3).

Row 6:

Work next steps:

"Beginning of right edge" (see Row 4).

"Middle stitches 2": *1 dc/sc in middle tr/dc, 7 tr/dc in space of 1 ch; rep from *, 1 dc/sc in middle tr/dc.

"Middle point 2": 7 tr/dc In space of 1 ch, 1 dc/sc in space of 3 ch, 7 tr/dc in next space of 1 ch.

"Middle stitches 2" (see above).

"Ending of left edge" : 7 tr/dc in space of 6 ch, 1 dc/sc in second of 6 ch, turn.

Repeat rows 5 - 6 until you have reached your desired size of shawl.
