Crochet mixed stitch #2

Guide

Materials

Fingering weight yarn, and crochet hook size 2.5 - 2.75 mm / C.
You may use any yarn of your choice, and a suitable hook.


Techniques used in this stitch

UK / US crochet term:

Chain stitch – ch

Double crochet / single crochet – dc / sc

Treble / Double crochet – tr / dc

Half tr / half dc – htr / hdc

Double Treble / Triple Crochet – dtr/tr

1 tr/dc decrease

Puff stitch – pff: yarn over, insert hook into space of 1ch, yarn over, draw yarn through stitch. Repeat preceding step 2 times. Yarn over and draw through all loops on hook.

Row 1: Skip 1ch, work 1dc/sc in each of next ch, turn.

Row 2 (RS): Make 4ch, work triangle stitch:

yarn over hook 2 times, insert hook into back loop of second dc/sc and work incomplete tr/dc (yarn over and pull through st, yarn over hook and draw yarn through first 2 loops on hook), yarn over hook 1 time, insert hook into back loop of next st and work incomplete tr/dc. Repeat the preceding step one more times.

Yarn over hook and draw yarn through first 4 loops on hook, yarn over hook and draw yarn through all loops on hook.

Work 1pff in space between first 4ch of the row and triangle stitch.

* make 1 triangle stitch: begin in same st as last incomplete tr/dc of previous triangle stitch, work 1pff in space between two triangle stitches; rep from *.

Make 1 dtr/tr in back loop of last st of the row and turn.

Row 3: Make 1ch, work 1dc/sc in back loop of dtr/tr below, work 1dc/sc in back loops of each of next pf and triangle stitches, 1dc/sc in fourth ch, turn.

Row 4 & 6: repeat Row 2.

Row 5 & 7: repeat Row 3.

Row 8: Make 3ch and skip first st, work 1tr/dc in back loop of each of next dc/sc, turn.

Row 9: Make 3ch and skip first st, * 1tr/dc in each of next 2st, 2tr/dc in next st, 1ch, skip 1st, make 1tr/dc decrease over next 2st below, 1tr/dc in each of next 2st, work 1tr/dc decrease over next 2st, 1ch, skip 1st, 2tr/dc in next st, 1tr/dc in each of next 2st; rep from *, make 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 10: Make 1ch and 1dc/sc in first st. Work this row behind the Row 9.

* [ Make 4ch, work 7 dtr/tr bobble in next free tr/dc of Row 8:

make 7 incomplete dtr/tr in next free tr/dc of Row 8, yarn over and draw yarn through all loops on hook.

Pull bobbles through spaces of 1ch to the right side of the fabric.

Row 11: Fasten to first dc/sc of Row 10 and make 2ch.

* Insert hook under top two loops of next tr/dc of Row 9 and into space of 4ch of Row 10 and make 1tr/dc. This technique will hide chs of Row 10 inside of Row 11. Make 1tr/dc in each of next 3sts (hiding the chs of 10th row),

1tr/dc in space of 1ch, work 1tr/dc in each of next 4sts, 1tr/dc in space of 1ch, make 1tr/dc in each of next 4sts; rep from *, make 1htr/hdc in dc/sc, turn.

Row 12: Make 3ch and skip first st, work 1tr/dc in each of next tr/dc below, 1tr/dc in second ch, turn.

Row 13: Make 1ch and 1dc/sc in first st; * make 1dc/sc in each of next 7tr/dc below, make a leaf:

Work 5ch, step back 4tr/dc below and make 1dc/sc in fifth tr/dc.

Make 1dc/sc + 1htr/hdc + 3tr/dc + 1htr/hdc + 1dc/sc in space of 5ch.

Work stems for cherries:

Yarn over hook 3 times, insert hook from front to back behind the first bobble, yarn over and pull through. Yarn over hook and draw yarn through first 2 loops on hook. Repeat the preceding step two more times.

Yarn over hook 3 times, insert hook from front to back behind the second bobble, yarn over and pull through. Yarn over hook and draw yarn through first 2 loops on hook. Repeat the preceding step two more times.

Yarn over hook and draw yarn through all loops on hook.

Continue the row: make 1dc/sc in each of next 7tr/dc below; rep from *, make 1ds/sc in third ch, do not turn.

Row 14: Fasten to first dc/sc of Row 13 and make 3ch. * Make 1tr/dc in each of next 7dc/sc below, skip stem, 1tr/dc in each of next 7dc/sc below; rep from *, make 1tr/dc in last dc/sc, turn.

Row 15: Make 1ch, work 1dc/sc in back loop of each of next tr/dc below, 1dc/sc in third ch, turn.

Row 16, 18 & 20: repeat Row 2.

Row 17, 19 & 21: repeat Row 3.

Row 22: Make 1ch, work 1dc/sc in back loop of each of next dc/sc below, turn.

Row 23: Make 3ch and skip first st, make 1tr/dc in each of next dc/sc below, turn.

Row 24: Make 3ch and skip first st, * 1tr/dc in each of next 4tr/dc below, 2ch, 1tr/dc in next, skip 3st,1tr/dc in next, 2ch, 1tr/dc in each of next 5st; rep from *, make 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 25: Make 3ch and skip first st, * 1tr/dc in each of next 5st, 2ch, 1tr/dc in space between 2tr/dc below, 2ch, 1tr/dc in each of next 4st; rep from *, make 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 26: Make 1ch and 1dc/sc in first st, * 1dc/sc in each of next 4tr/dc below, 2dc/sc in space of 2ch, 1ch, make a flower:

Crochet all petals from outside to center of the flower.

Work 4tr/dc + 1htr/hdc + 1dc/sc (first petal) over next tr/dc below and make 3ch.

Work 4tr/dc + 1htr/hdc + 1dc/sc (second petal) over 2chs and make 3ch.

Work 4tr/dc + 1htr/hdc + 1dc/sc (third petal) over next tr/dc below and make 3ch.

Work 4tr/dc + 1htr/hdc + 1dc/sc (fourth petal) over next tr/dc below and make 3ch.

Work 4tr/dc + 1htr/hdc + 1dc/sc (fifth petal) over 2chs and make 2ch.

Make slt in space of 1ch, work 1ch.

Continue the row: work 2dc/sc in next space of 2ch, 1dc/sc in each of next 5tr/dc below; rep from*, make 1dc/sc in third ch, do not turn.

Row 27: Fasten to first dc/sc of Row 26 and make 3ch. * Work 1tr/dc in each of next 6dc/sc below, 1tr/dc in space of 1ch, skip petal and work 1tr/dc in each of next 7dc/sc; rep from *, work 1tr/dc in last dc/sc, turn.

Row 28: Make 1ch, work 1dc/sc in back loop of each of next tr/dc below, 1dc/sc in third ch, turn.

Repeat rows 2 - 28 until you have reached your desired length.
