Crochet flower stitch

Guide

Feel free to use any type of yarn (or even thread) for your project. Most yarns have the recommended crochet hook size on the label.


Techniques used in this stitch

UK / US crochet term:

Chain stitch – ch

Slip stitch – slst

Double crochet / Single crochet – dc/sc

Treble / Double crochet – tr / dc

Double treble / Triple – dtr / tr

Cluster of 4 Double trebles / Trebles – cluster: * yarn over the hook 2 times, insert the hook in st (or space of 1ch), yarn over the hook and pull it through the st (or space). Yarn over the hook and draw yarn through the first 2 loops on the hook. Repeat the preceding step one more time; rep from * 3 times more,

yarn over the hook and draw yarn through all loops.

Row 1: Skip 10ch, * make flower leaves and stem: {1cluster in next ch, 4ch, 1dc/sc in same ch, 6ch, skip 2ch, 1sl.st in each of next 4ch, 1dc/sc in same ch, 4ch, 1cluster in same ch},

2ch, skip 5ch, 1tr/dc in next ch, skip 5ch; rep from *.

Then work 1cluster in next ch, 4ch, 1dc/sc in same ch, 6ch, skip 2ch, 1sl.st in each of next 4ch, 1dc/sc in same ch, 4ch, 1cluster in same ch, 2ch, 1tr/dc in last ch, turn.

Row 2: Make 2ch, * 2dc/sc in space of 2ch, 1dc/sc in top of cluster, 5ch, {1dc/sc +2ch+1dc/sc} - in top of stem, 5ch, 1dc/sc in top of next cluster, 2dc/sc in space of 2ch; rep from *, make 1dc/sc in third ch at end of row, turn.

Row 3: Make 5ch, * 3dc/sc in space of 5ch, 3ch, 2tr/dc in space of 2ch,

make flower: {4ch, then work 2tr/dc over second tr/dc.

Work [3ch, 1dc/sc, 3ch, 2tr/dc, 3ch, 1dc/sc] over same tr/dc. Make 3ch.

Yarn over, insert your hook from front to back between 2tr/dc and from back to front under 2ch and between 2dc/sc (see pictures).

Work in this space 2tr/dc. Make 3ch.

Now work over first tr/dc. Make [1dc/sc, 3ch, 2tr/dc, 3ch] – 2 times, 1dc/sc }.

Make 3ch, 3dc/sc in space of 5ch, 5ch; rep from *.

Work 3dc/sc in next space of 5ch, 3ch, 2tr/dc in space of 2ch, make flower, 3ch, 3dc/sc in next space of 5ch, 2ch, 1tr/dc in second ch below, turn.

Row 4: Make 8ch, * 1dc/sc in first space of 3ch, 1ch, 1dc/sc in next space of 3ch, 5ch, [1tr/dc +1ch +1tr/dc] in space of 5ch, 5ch; rep from*, 1dc/sc in first space of 3ch, 1ch, 1dc/sc in next space of 3ch, 5ch, 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 5: Make 7ch, skip 2ch, 1sl.st in each of next 4ch, 1dc/sc in first tr/dc below, 4ch, 1cluster in same tr/dc, 2ch, 1tr/dc in space of 1ch (between dc/sc), * 2ch, make leaves and stem in space of 1ch (between tr/dc), 2ch, 1tr/dc in space of 1ch; rep from *.

Make 2ch, 1cluster in third ch, 4ch, 1dc/sc in same ch, 7ch, turn.

Row 6: Skip 2 ch, 1dc/sc in next, 5ch, 1dc/sc in top of next cluster, 2dc/sc in space of2ch, *2dc/sc in next space of 2ch, 1dc/sc in top of cluster, 5ch, {1dc/sc +2ch+1dc/sc} - in top of stem, 5ch, 1dc/sc in top of next cluster, 2dc/sc in space of2ch; rep from *, 2dc/sc in next space of 2ch, 1dc/sc in top of cluster, 5ch, 1dc/sc in top of last stem, turn.

Row 7: Make 6ch, 3dc/sc in space of 5ch, * 5ch, 3dc/sc in next space of 5ch, 3ch, 2tr/dc in space of 2ch, make flower, 3ch, 3dc/sc in space of 5ch; rep from*, 5ch, 3dc/sc in next space of 5ch, 3ch, 1tr/dc second ch, turn.

Row 8: Make 2ch, * 1dc/sc in space of 3ch, 5ch, [1tr/dc +1ch +1tr/dc] in space of 5ch, 5ch, 1dc/sc in space of 3ch, 1ch; rep from *, 1dc/sc in space of 3ch, 5ch, [1tr/dc +1ch +1tr/dc] in space of 5ch, 5ch, 1dc/sc in space of 6ch, 1dc/sc in third ch, turn.

Row 9: Make 5ch, * make leaves and stem in space of 1ch, 2ch, 1tr/dc in next space of 1ch, 2ch; rep from *, make leaves and stem in space of 1ch, 2ch, 1tr/dc in second ch, turn.

Repeat rows 2 – 9 until you have reached your desired length.
