This afghan square crochet stitch pattern is a versatile design that can be worked using any thread or yarn. Most yarns have the recommended crochet hook size on the label. But you can play around with different options to get tighter or looser crochet fabric.
How to grow your square pattern:
You could make a lovely-to-look-at baby blanket or pillow cover of any size. Grow the square pattern for as long as you want. Simply repeat rows (given in diagram and step-by-step instructions) until you get the desired size of your project.

2 - "Middle stitches #1": * skip first tr/dc of the shell, 1 BPtr/dc over each of the next 4tr/dc of the shell, work 1tr/dc + 1ch in space of 1ch; rep from * (don't rep for "round 5"), skip first tr/dc of the shell, 1 BPtr/dc over each of the next 4tr/dc of the shell.
3 - "Point 1": work [1tr/dc + 1ch in the same space of 1ch] - 3 times, 1tr/dc in the same space.

Round 7
Repeat rows 5 - 6 until you have reached your desired size of square.
Colors & rounds: 1&2 – blue, 3&4 – white, 5&6 – pink, 7&8 – white, 9&10 – violet, 11&12 – white, 13 – blue.
