Crochet Bedford Lace #89

Guide

Feel free to use any type of yarn (or even thread) for your project. Most yarns have the recommended crochet hook size on the label.


Techniques used in this stitch

UK / US crochet term:

Chain stitch – ch

Double crochet / Single crochet – dc/sc

Treble / Double crochet – tr/dc

Shell – make 3tr/dc + 1 ch + 3tr/dc in the same space.

Stitch – st

Foundation Chain: Make 46 foundation chs.

Row 1: Skip 3ch, make shell in next ch, skip 8ch and work 7tr/dc under foundation ch, shell in next ch (in 9th ch from hook), 12ch, skip 17ch, shell in next ch, skip 8ch and work 7tr/dc under foundation ch , shell in next ch (in 9th ch from hook), 1ch, skip 2ch, 1tr/dc in next, 2ch, 1tr/dc in last ch, turn.

Row 2:

Part A: make 5ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc, 1ch, shell in shell, 3ch, shell in shell, 12 ch, shell in shell, 3ch, shell in shell.

Part B: make 2ch and 1tr/dc in last tr/dc of sell below, turn.

Row 3:

Part B: make 5ch, 1tr/dc in first tr/dc of shell below, 2ch.

Part A: shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell, 12 ch, shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell, 1ch, 1tr/dc in tr/dc below, 2ch, 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 4:

Part A: make 5ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc, 1ch, shell in shell, 3ch, shell in shell. Work a square: make 8ch, insert your hook under 3 chains of 12ch and work 1dc/sc;

turn, make 3ch, 1tr/dc in each of the next 8ch;

* turn, 3 ch, 1tr/dc in each of 7 tr/dc below, 1tr/dc in third ch; rep from * 2 more times.

Then work shell in in shell, 3ch, shell in shell.

Part B: make 2ch and 1tr/dc in last tr/dc of sell below, 2ch and 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below, 2ch and 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 5:

Part B: make 5ch, * 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below, 2ch; rep from * one more time, 1tr/dc in first tr/dc of the shell below, 2ch.

Part A: shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell, 12 ch, shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell, 1ch, 1tr/dc in tr/dc below, 2ch, 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 6:

Part A: make 5ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc, 1ch, shell in shell, 3ch, shell in shell, 12ch, shell in in shell, 3ch, shell in shell.

Part B: make 2ch and 1tr/dc in last tr/dc of sell below, * 2ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below; rep from * 2 more times, 2ch and 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 7:

Part B: make 5ch, * 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below, 2ch; rep from * 3 more times, 1tr/dc in first tr/dc of the shell below, 2ch.

Part A: shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell, 12 ch, shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell, 1ch, 1tr/dc in tr/dc below, 2ch, 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 8:

Part A: make 5ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc, 1ch, shell in shell, 3ch, shell in shell, 12ch, shell in in shell, 3ch, shell in shell.

Part B: make 2ch and 1tr/dc in last tr/dc of sell below, * 2tr/dc in space of 2ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below; rep from * 3 more times, then make 2ch and 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below, 2ch and 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 9:

Part B: make 5ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below and 2ch, 1tr/dc in each of the next 13 tr/dc below, 2ch, 1tr/dc in first tr/dc of the shell below, 2ch.

Part A: shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell. Work the square as was written above, but make dc/sc in corner of previous square (in third ch of last row of the square).

Then make shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell, 1ch, 1tr/dc in tr/dc below, 2ch, 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 10:

Part A: make 5ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc, 1ch, shell in shell, 3ch, shell in shell, 12ch, shell in in shell, 3ch, shell in shell.

Part B: make 2ch and 1tr/dc in last tr/dc of sell below, 2 ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below and 2ch, 1tr/dc in each of the next 13 tr/dc below, then make 2ch and 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below, 2ch and 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 11:

Part B: make 5ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below, 2ch, 1tr/dc in each of the next 13 tr/dc below, 2ch, * 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below, 2ch; rep from * one more time, 1tr/dc in first tr/dc of the shell below, 2ch.

Part A: shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell, 12 ch, shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell, 1ch, 1tr/dc in tr/dc below, 2ch, 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 12:

Part A: make 5ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc, 1ch, shell in shell, 3ch, shell in shell, 12ch, shell in in shell, 3ch, shell in shell.

Part B: make 2ch and 1tr/dc in last tr/dc of sell below,* 2 ch, skip 2ch (or 2tr/dc) below and work 1tr/dc in next tr/dc; rep from * 8 more times, 2ch and 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 13:

Part B: make 5ch, * 1tr/dc in next tr/dc below, 2ch; rep from * 9 more times, 1tr/dc in first tr/dc of the shell below, 2ch.

For part B repeat rows 2 – 13.

Part A: shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell, 12 ch, shell in shell, 7 tr/dc in space of 3ch, shell in shell, 1ch, 1tr/dc in tr/dc below, 2ch, 1tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 14:

Part A: make 5ch, 1tr/dc in next tr/dc, 1ch, shell in shell, 3ch, shell in shell. Work the square: crochet dc/sc in corner of previous square. Then make shell in shell, 3ch and shell in shell.

For part A repeat rows 5 – 14.

Part B: repeat row 2 of part B

Repeat given rows until you have reached your desired length.

Lower edge

Row 1:

Fasten to the last space of 2nd row and make 3ch, work 1tr/dc + 1ch + 2tr/dc in this space. Then work * 2tr/dc + 1ch + 2tr/dc in next space; rep from * 9 more times. Work in point: 2tr/dc + 1ch + 3tr/dc + 1ch + 3tr/dc + 1ch + 2tr/dc. Then repeat instructions from * to * 10 more times.

For the each of the next triangle skip its first space and repeat instructions from * to * 10 more times. Then make point as was written above and repeat instructions from * to * 10 more times.

Turn at the end of the row.

Row 2:

Make 1ch, * {1dc/sc in next space of 1ch} - repeat 2 times , { 1dc/sc in next space of 1ch, 7tr/dc in next space of 1ch} - repeat 8 times, {1dc/sc in next space of 1ch} - repeat 3 times;

rep from * over the each triangle.
