Guide

Materials

Pearl cotton, crochet thread size 12, and steel crochet hook size 1.25 - 1.50 mm / 10 - 8.
You may use any yarn of your choice, and a suitable hook.


Techniques used in this stitch

Chain stitch – ch

Double crochet / Single crochet – dc/sc

Treble / Double crochet – tr / dc

Shell - 3 tr/dc + 1 ch + 3 tr/dc in the same stitch

Make 9 foundation chains.

Row 1: 5 ch miss, shell in next ch, 1 tr/dc in last ch, turn.

Row 2: 3 ch, shell in shell, 1 tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Rows 3, 4 and 5: repeat 2 Row.

Row 6: 3 ch, shell in shell, 1 tr/dc in third ch, 13 ch, 1 dc/sc in eighth ch from hook, 6 ch,

3 shell miss, 1 dc/sc in third ch at fourth shell, turn.

Row 7: 3 ch, 12 tr/dc and 1 dc/sc in ring of 7 ch, turn.

Row 8: 6 ch, 8 st miss (1 dc/ and 7 tr/dc below), 1tr/dc in next st, 2 ch, 1 st miss, 1 tr/dc in next, 2 ch, 1 tr/dc in last tr/dc below, 2 ch, 1 tr/dc in third ch at first shell, turn.

Row 9: 2 ch, 1 tr/dc in second tr/dc below, 2 ch, 1 tr/dc in next tr/dc below, 12 tr/dc and 1 dc/sc in space of 6 ch, turn.

Row 10: 6 ch, 8 st miss, 1tr/dc in next st, 2 ch, 1 st miss, 1 tr/dc in next, 2 ch, 1 tr/dc in last tr/dc below, turn.

Row 11: 5 ch, 1 tr/dc in second tr/dc below, 2 ch, 1 tr/dc in next tr/dc below, 12 tr/dc and 1 dc/sc in space of 6 ch, turn.

Rows 12 & 13, 14 & 15, 16 & 17, 18 & 19: repeat rows 10 and 11.

Row 20: repeat row 10.

Row 21: 5 ch, 1 tr/dc in second tr/dc below, 2 ch, 1 tr/dc in next tr/dc below, 12 tr/dc and 1 dc/sc in space of 6 ch,

8 dc/sc over 5 ch (see pictures below),

3 ch, shell in shell, 1 tr/dc in third ch, turn.

Row 22: 3 ch, shell in shell, 1 tr/dc in third ch, 1 dc/sc in tr/dc of big shell (see picture below), turn.

Rows 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29: repeat row 2.

Row 30: repeat row 6.

Row 31: repeat row 7.

Row 32: 6 ch, 8 st miss (1 dc/ and 7 tr/dc below), 1tr/dc in next st, 2 ch, 1 st miss, 1 tr/dc in next, 2 ch, 1 tr/dc in last tr/dc below, 2 ch, 1dc/sc in space of 5 ch (see pictures below), turn.

Row 33: repeat row 9.

Row 34: 6 ch, 8 st miss (1 dc/ and 7 tr/dc below), 1tr/dc in next st, 2 ch, 1 st miss, 1 tr/dc in next, 2 ch, 1 tr/dc in last tr/dc below, 2 ch, 1dc/sc in space of 5 ch (see pictures below), turn.

Row 35: repeat row 9.

Repeat 12 – 35 rows until you have reached your desired length.
